I’m not new to blogging but I am to WordPress. And I really like blog themes that are 3 columns. As I was looking at the WP template options available, this one – Anaconda – really stood out as one I liked.
My first blog on diary-x.com before it went dark used a theme from Eris Free called Light Industrial My next [and previous] blog has the same format, but the custom template made labels [why couldn't they call them Categories?] difficult to configure. That is one of the reasons I decided to switch to WordPress. More on that process in another post.
Now that I’ve got it up and running, I decided to take a look at what other people are doing with their themes [I still want to call them call them templates] to see how I can make mine look and work better.
So here is a Google search of some people using the Anaconda theme. If I skin or switch themes, I will write a similar post about that one too.
These appear in order of ranking – first seen, first posted – although it is not always the home page that is listed in Google’s results.
The first two from Australia and New Zealand . Interesting.

If anyone can show how to tweak WP and the Anaconda theme for SE Optimization, Douglas will. I’ll be reading his blog regularly.

The last one is from the top of page four in the search of 233,000 results. Good work Simple Thoughts.
Enjoy

Al,
Thanks so much for the kind words! I’ll absolutely share whatever knowledge I can through my site… and in an upcoming book. The Anaconda is a great theme… I’ve not run into any issues that I’ve not been able to work through. I’ve made a lot of changes to the theme as well – both aesthetically and for additional plugin integration.
BTW: I actually went to High School at St. Patrick’s in downtown Vancouver and I lived in Port Coquitlam for 6 years. I go back to B.C. every few years to visit high school friends of mine. It’s one of the greatest cities on Earth!
Warmest Regards,

Doug,
I’ll be sure to ask [I already have].

Al — January 22nd, 2007 at 6:34 amIt’s eerie to see my blog’s L&F on someone else’s site… Makes me want to ditch a standard template.
Andrew — January 23rd, 2007 at 9:40 amIf you do come out with a good three-column theme, let me know.
Dave J. (Scoop0901) — January 23rd, 2007 at 1:11 pmDon’t forget mine. I love the Anaconda theme. It is very difficult to find three colum templates so was greatful to find this one.
