Bokashi Blog » To my 50 or so RSS subscribers: Who are you? — August 24th, 2008 at 5:58 pmHi Al
A quick question for you. A year or two ago I heard about and read an article about EM ceramics. Something about bokashi being fired into the ceramic. I am still trying to find out more about this, how its done and its effectiveness. It sounds more like a fake. Have you heard anything about this? I am part of an NGO called Potters Without Borders and we are developing colloidal silver impregnated ceramic water filters for use in rural developing countries so if EM ceramics is true it could revolutionize the basic concept of the a simple point of use ceramic water filter. Just a thought.
Cheers

Hi Ben,
I cannot comment on a product I have no experience with but a Google search of ‘em ceramics’ reveals at least one promising result from using the pipes.
As I understand it, it is the friendly microbes in the liquid that impregnate the ceramic material not bokashi, so you would use an Activated EM [or Biosa
] as the water to form your filters.
I would contact EMRO Japan or their affiliate in the countries you are working to see if a test sample could be used to make a filter as you describe and comparing it to without EM ceramic powder in it.
If I can help in any way please let me know.
Cheers,
Al
P.S. Do you live in Vancouver?
Al — October 5th, 2008 at 5:05 pmThanks Al
That makes a lot of sense to me and now I am being to see that it could be actually useful and worth experimenting. I will definately look further and contact EMRO Japan since I am in Japan now.
Cheers,
